What you need to apply for a passport
Having your documents and details ready can help your passport application move smoothly through the process.
Prepare your identity documents
You will need original identity documents that show your full name, date of birth and Australian citizenship. Bring the documents listed on your application checklist to your appointment.
- Proof of Australian citizenship
- Identity documents with your current name
- Any documents showing a change of name
Get a passport photo
Your photo must meet Australian passport photo requirements. It should be recent, in colour, and show your face clearly against a plain background.
Complete your application
Complete the application form carefully and sign it where required. Adults generally need to lodge their application in person at a participating location.
